Kathryn Claire began singing, playing and writing music at an early age.  She was influenced by her grandfather; a gypsy-swing and jazz violinist, and her parents who played music and sang with her through-out her childhood.   She began studying violin  at the age of 7, voice at the age of 14, and at 16 she started teaching herself guitar and writing her own songs.   Since then, Kathryn has continued to write, perform, record and produce music as a solo artist and with many other musicians.  She has released two solo albums, Wanderer (2005) and Homespun (2007). She has lived on both the east and west coasts of the US and has traveled extensively through Europe and Asia.  She currently resides in Portland, Oregon.

Kathryn's commitment to her craft and her love of perform-ing make for a dynamic and engaging experience.  Kathryn is a versatile artist committed to folk music  and the opportunity it brings to connect to others.

Press Quotes:

"As she croons and caresses the lyrics, her versatility as a songstress shines.  She belts out throaty, emotion-rich lines then soars effortlessly into bell-like harmonies.  Some songs leave you with goose bumps; some grab your attention like streams of sunlight breaking through clouds; others caress and push you the way wind bends branches"

"Kathryn Claire's tunes bridge a personal presence with traditional folk style, and solid contemporary acoustic guitar"

Dinah Urell

HIPFISH

"Kathryn Claire blends in unexpected vocal and musical textures just when you think you know what's coming next. While her songwriting may be a reflection of her personal life, the songs are expansive, mature and worldly. The songs aren't obviously about her but seem to impart the thoughts and experiences of people she knows intimately. Her voice is the star, and she gains strength with each note. Fans of acoustic folk or traditional music in its many forms will find lots to love"
